Abstract

This study investigates Symbolism as a narrative technique employed to enrich thematic depth and interpretive complexity in literary texts. This is an attempt to probe how symbolic representation functions within a narrative structure to convey meanings transcending literal expression. This particular paper tends to ecxplore the ways in which the writers used narrative technique of Symbolism to depict abstract ideas, psychological states and feelings, thereby engaging readers in the process of a particular interpretation that deepens the overall narrative experience. Representative Authers of this narrative technique are examined for their strategic use of Symbolism to construct existential, moral and psychological dimensions in their works. It concludes that the Symbolism, as a narrative technique transforms storytelling from an ordinary sequence of events into an interpretive act, erasing the boundries between concrete and abstract, and enabling literay work to communicate the ineffable through suggestion and resonance.
