A Research-Based Analysis of the Hadiths on Ghazwah-e-Hind: Authenticity and Significance

Abstract

The present study investigates the concept of Ghazwa-e-Hind (the prophesied battle of India) in the light of Hadith literature. The research undertakes a critical analysis of primary sources, including canonical Hadith collections, as well as the works of classical and modern scholars, to assess the authenticity, textual variations, and contextual interpretations of the narrations. The methodology combines descriptive analysis with a comparative review of scholarly opinions to distinguish between sound, weak, and disputed reports. The paper also examines the historical reception of these narratives and their impact on socio-political thought throughout various periods of Muslim history.The findings suggest that, although some narrations are considered weak or disputed, they have nonetheless played a significant role in shaping religious and cultural discourse, particularly in relation to eschatological expectations. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of approaching Ghazwa-e-Hind with scholarly rigor, avoiding literalist or extremist misinterpretations, and understanding these Hadith within their historical and theological context.
